Thomas Peter Closter, 66, of Sinnott Road, died Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Seal Rock Healthcare in Saco following a brief illness. He was born in Fort Lauderdale, FL on May 1, 1941, the son of Peter and Margot (Carlson) Closter. He grew up and was educated in Florida.

Thomas proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

For many years, he was employed at an aquatic nursery in Florida, where aquatic plants were grown, harvested, and shipped worldwide.

In the early 1970’s, along with his mother, he ventured on two 6-month cruises around the world on commercial freighters.

Thomas met his life companion, Anne Brooks, during one of her trips to Florida. She convinced him to move to Maine with her where the two had enjoyed each other’s company ever since.

For many years, he was the caretaker of the Lord mansion on Summer Street in Kennebunk.

He had many Masonic affiliations, including member and past master, Arundel Lodge #76 AF & AM; all Scottish Rite bodies including Maine Consistory 32nd Degree, Valley of Portland; Murray Chapter past High Priest; Member/PIM Maine Council of Saco; Past Commander, St. Amand #20; York Rite College Dirigo #103, Pine Cone Council #31 Knight Mason; Former head of all York Rite Bodies; member and Past Patron Aurora Chapter, Order of Eastern Star; Kora Shrine Temple, Lewiston; member of the Kora Shrine Moped Unit; and York County Shrine Club.

He was a long time member of the First Congregational Church, Kennebunkport, and enjoyed traveling and NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon.

Survivors include his loving companion Anne Brooks of Arundel; and his sister Sylvia Ann Peck.

There are no calling hours. A Masonic Service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at The First Congregational Church, 141 North Street, Kennebunkport, where a Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend James Anderson presiding.
